The Uganda Industrial Research Institute (UIRI) has appointed a new Board of Directors, marking the end of eight years without a governing board. The new team, chaired by Rtd. Gen. Ivan Koreta, was inaugurated today at the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Cooperatives boardroom.

The inauguration was presided over by the Minister of State for Industry, Hon. David Bahati, who urged the Board to steer clear of overlapping their responsibilities with management. He called on them to focus on offering strategic direction to strengthen the Institute’s mandate.

In his remarks, Rtd. Gen. Koreta pledged to work closely with fellow members and UIRI management to advance innovation, value addition, applied research, and the development of appropriate technologies to create a strong, effective, and competitive industrial sector.

The newly appointed Board comprises:

Rtd. Gen. Ivan Koreta – Chairperson
Ms. Jolly K. Kaguhangire – Member
Dr. Catherine Wandera – Member
Ms. Magdalene Akite – Member
Mr. Ramathan Ggoobi – Ex-Officio
Dr. Joshua Mutambi – Ex-Officio
Prof. Charles Kwesiga – Secretary
