The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Registrar in Kitgum has been arrested for allegedly forging results in the recent NRM primaries. Charles Ouma, the Village Registrar of Manwoko Village in Labongo Amida Sub-county, Kitgum District, is accused of manipulating vote counts during the local election.

Joe Oloya, Aswa Regional Police Public Relations Officer, stated that Ouma was caught on video skipping vote counts from No. 39 to 60 while tallying votes for Geoffrey Komakech Alulu, the incumbent Labongo Amida Sub-county Chairperson.

“Ouma’s actions were recorded in the video footage, which later went viral. The inconsistency raised concerns, leading to his arrest by a police officer assigned to the electoral desk at Kitgum Central Police Station,” Oloya explained.

He added that an investigation has been initiated, and Ouma is preliminarily facing charges of forgery and uttering false documents. He is currently in custody at Kitgum Central Police Station. According to the final results released by Simon Owacgiu, the Kitgum District NRM election officer, Simon Owacgiu emerged victorious, becoming the NRM flag bearer for the Labongo Amida Sub-county chairperson position in the 2026 general election.

Owacgiu secured 719 votes (44.1%), defeating incumbent Geoffrey Komakech Alulu, who received 413 votes (25.4%), while Moses Odokonyero obtained 497 votes (30.5%).
