An 8-year-old boy has drowned in the Police in Mubuku River, Hima Division, Kasese district. Innocent Magambo drowned in the Mubuku River at around 7:00 PM on Tuesday.
The Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, Nelson Tumushime, told URN that Magambo, a pupil at Mubuku Primary School, drowned when he was playing with his peers in the river.
The water reportedly swept Magambo for a distance of about 200 meters, following a heavy down pour in the area.
The local community, helped by police led by OC Mubuku police station, Stephen Tukumubona, retrieved the body from Mubuku prison farm.
Tumushime said police are cautioning parents to always prevent children from playing in dangerous areas.
Early this month, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl, Joan Amumpire, drowned in the water channel in Mubuku.
