The new management at Uganda railways corporation URC is totally confused with the new managing director engineer Benon Kajuna regretting why he quit his works and transport ministry job for such very uncertain life.

Hon. Eng. Robert Kafeero Ssekitoleko
Chief Mechanical Engineer

The president all along wanted a lot to improve in the railway transport part because he is sure that’s how roads can be preserved and made to last longer after heavy trucks traffic has been diverted away.

Eng. Isaac Natukunda
Chief Civil Engineer

Museveni wants the roads to be free of heavy trucks and traffic jams as much of the passenger and cargo movement gets diverted to railway transport.

Mr. Abuberkerer N. Ochaki
Chief Operations Officer

He believes that having a functional railway transport network can also increase on Uganda’s business competitiveness. This is why he has been very supportive of efforts to revamp the railway network under general Katumba Wamala.

Ms. Pamela Rucecerwa
Ag. Chief Finance Officer

Benon Kajuna expected to receive a lot of financial support from the president when he became the MD for URC. Yet since he took charge, Museveni coiled and even became less enthusiastic towards infrastructure projects at URC. The ministry of finance has been slow and not giving priority to funding of projects under URC.

This has disturbed the new management a lot leaving Kajuna and chief mechanical engineer Kafeero Ssekitoleko and other top managers very much confused. They have been trying to get a meeting to talk to the president in vain.

They have tried approaching many offices for support to be taken to the president but they haven’t been successful. Whoever they approach promises to try and never gets back to them.

It has been realized that Museveni is unhappy with the leadership at URC and the way they are being supervised from the ministry of works & transport by ministers Fred Byamukama and general Katumba Wamala.

Bosses at the ministry have been defying many of the president’s directives relating to Uganda railways corporation, which has made the president to become very much disinterested in what goes on at station house. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
