NUP is full of job seekers, Declares Yusuf Nsibambi

Mawokota south MP Yusuf Nsibambi says the current chaos inside NUP is because the Kavule party has failed to attract serious politicians with ideology and is now full of job seekers who only attend functions to eat people’s food and claiming to love Kyagulanyi more than their opponents. He says many of them don’t even know what is at stake in 2026.

He says the fight which has been ignited by the ultimatum Kavule gave NUP rebel MPs is because people talking on both sides are not genuine but are just talking to please Kyagulanyi and get NUP ticket so that they can use the 2026 elections to get jobs for themselves for the next 5 years up to 2031.

Nsibambi says that when he was returning from Luwero to attend the burial of councilor Karim Lukoda’s mother on Friday, he saw many politicians having red posters on the whole of Bombo road and each one of them wants the NUP ticket not because they like change or understand the party’s ideology but because they have confirmed that associating with Kyagulanyi can win for them.

“Each one of them has added Kyagulanyi’s face on their poster as if Bobi Wine is also standing for that post of councilor or MP. This shows these are job seekers who are going to create more fights for the NUP ticket which will weaken the opposition more and at the same time make Museveni stronger in Buganda.” Nsibambi was speaking on CBS radio in Saturday with MP Micheal Kakembo and Mpindi Bumali.

Kakembo challenged seniors like Betty Nambooze and Muwanga Kivumbi to help guide Kavule as opposed to being mere bootlickers to Kyagulanyi. He claimed that Muwanga Kivumbi is leading Kyagulanyi towards making deliberate mistakes in order to weaken the cause for change.

They were discussing Muwanga Kivumbi’s threat to chase away NUP MPs who are not loyal to Kyagulanyi and are hobnobbing with Mpuuga’s DA group. Nsibambi said in Mpigi where he represents, a total of 8 women have printed red umbrella posters for the woman MP post which is already occupied by Teddy Nambooze who is under NUP herself.

Nsibambi said this shows they are just looking at 2026 as their chance to get a job and become famous as individuals instead of promoting the struggle against Museveni and NRM. He said if they are genuine they wouldn’t be fighting for this one position which NRM may end up winning because of their confusion. He said Kyagulanyi is going to end up with big problems of being hated by many people because every sitting MP who loses or new ones who lose elections and fail to get themselves a job under the 2026 elections, will turn the guns on him.

Nsibambi says even in his FDC, where he is deputy president they have this problem. He used the example of the two MPs FDC has in Jinja as the example of the political conmen and bafelez who he said had increased in opposition. He said that Isabirye and Batuwa had turned into political prostitutes because they fear to lose their MP jobs in 2026 and see Kyagulanyi as their only savior to escape joblessness.

“When I call meetings as the FDC whip, they don’t show up and they don’t even contribute money to the FDC anymore but they are always at NUP functions trying to impose themselves on Kyagulanyi yet they are not NUP members.”

Nsibambi predicted that such job seekers are going to cause problems for Kyagulanyi and weaken opposition to the benefit of Museveni. He said the solution lies with the voters who should choose who is the best for each constituency as opposed to waiting for Kavule, which he said is going to become a more confused place with passage of time.
