Police in Luwero district have arrested a woman for killing her husband in suspected domestic violence.

The deceased has been identified as Godfrey Kamoga, aged 29 years old, a resident of  Namawojja village, Zirobwe sub-county. He was reportedly killed by his wife, Shakira Mbabazi, on Wednesday night.

According to Savannah Regional Police Spokesperson ASP Sam Twiineamazima, preliminary investigation indicates that the deceased was stabbed by his wife, Mbabazi Shakira, from their own house in the sitting room and died instantly.

Twineamazima adds that upon police getting information from the resident, they swiftly rushed to the scene and arrested the wife over the murder.

“The dead body was conveyed to Luwero Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination and suspect arrested for further investigations,” Twineamazima said.

Abdul Mazinga, the Luwero District Speaker and area councilor, said reports indicate that the couple fought after a man allegedly caught the wife committing adultery with his friend, whom he had earlier settled at home for treatment.

In December last year, Reginah Namande, a resident of Kyamufumba village in Butuntumula sub-county, was arrested after she fought with her husband, Charles Bunjo, aged 54 years and hit him with a stone in the stomach, leading to his death.

The fight stemmed from allegations that Namande had an affair with another man. Namande is currently on remand at Butuntumula Prison.

According to the Annual Crime Report, Luwero district registered 287 cases of domestic violence in 2024 and ranked in fifth position with the highest across the country.

In the same year, the district also registered 86 cases of homicide and ranked in second position with highest cases across the country-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
