Police in Kole District are investigating the death of 45-year-old Francis Okello, whose body was found in a swamp in Adwir Village.
The body with bruises on the head, was discovered on Thursday by a resident. According to police preliminary investigations, Okello had separated from his wife, Agnes Adong, 15 years ago. Adong had recently returned to the area and allegedly chased away Okello’s new wife.
The police found several exhibits at the scene, including clothes belonging to Adong, horns, and dried local herbs.
Jimmy Patrick Okema, North Kyoga Regional Police Spokesperson, said that the police are searching for Adong and an unidentified man.
Pame Ezekiel Awira, Akalo Town Council LCIII Chairman, urged married couples to use local leaders to settle grievances instead of taking the law into their hands.
Domestic violence still remains the second leading crime committed in the Lango Sub region’s nine districts of Lira, Kole, Oyam, Apac, Kwania, Dokolo, Alebtong, Amolatar and Otuke.
