A businessman was robbed of Sh17 million by three suspected armed Karimojong warriors along the Kaabong-Karenga road in Kaabong District. The robbery occurred on September 7, 2026, at about 2:00 pm at Kathile Bridge, between Kathile and Kamacharikol Trading Centre.

The victim, identified as 25-year-old Silas Asiimire, a Direct Sales Distributor for Tiffan and Family Company Ltd, was riding a motorcycle registration number UFP 091X, a red Bajaj Boxer, from Kaabong to Kathile Town Council to distribute MTN Mobile Money float. Police said Asiimire was attacked on his way back by three suspected Dodoth warriors armed with bows and arrows.

The suspects allegedly tied his face with clothes before taking two smartphones and Sh17 million in cash. They then fled in an unknown direction, leaving Asiimire abandoned along the road. Mike Longole, the Mt Moroto Regional Police spokesperson, confirmed the incident and said a case of aggravated robbery had been registered.

Longole said a joint team from the UPDF Kathile Detachment and officers from Kathile Town Council Police Station responded after receiving information about the attack. “The security team swiftly responded, visited and documented the scene, but the suspects had already fled. The victim was rescued, and his statement recorded,” Longole said.

He said investigations were ongoing and security teams were working to track down the suspects. “Investigations are ongoing, and efforts to track down the suspects are underway. No arrest has been made yet,” Longole said. He reassured residents that security had been heightened along major roads and appealed to anyone with information about the suspects to report to the nearest police station.

“We reassure the public that security has been heightened along all major roads, and we appeal to anyone with information that can lead to the arrest of the suspects to report to the nearest police station,” he said-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
