The Tooro Elders Forum (Isaazi L’yabantu Bakuru Batooro) has called on the people of Tooro to remain calm, united and respectful as the kingdom mourns the death of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV.

In a statement issued following the passing of the King by Col Rtd Tom Butiime the Chairperson Isaazi L’yabantu Bakuru Batooro, the elders expressed deep sorrow over the death describing it as a great loss to the Tooro Kingdom and people and those who loved and respected the monarch.

The forum urged the public to exercise restraint and avoid actions, statements or speculation that could cause division, confusion or unnecessary tension during the mourning period. According to the elders, the death of the King is a moment of profound importance in the life of the kingdom and therefore requires patience, wisdom, dignity and respect for Tooro’s customs and traditions. The elders also called on the people of Tooro to give the Babito time to organize themselves and handle the process of identifying and bringing forward the next King from the appropriate royal lineage.

They said the process of succession should be allowed to take place peacefully and respectfully stressing that the days ahead would require wisdom, patience and a strong commitment to the unity and stability of the kingdom.

“Tooro is bigger than any one individual or family interest,” the elders said in their statement.

The TEF pledged to remain available to support and advise the Royal Family, the Babito, cultural leaders and other stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition in the dynasty-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
