Because she wanted them to perform highly and take their work more seriously, the new KCCA executive director Sharifah Buzeki has put all the directors and their deputies to serve for a limited period of only 2 years and this is unrenewable.
This has made the directors to feel hurt and unwanted and some of them see it as being as good as fired from the job. The directors are not seeing Buzeki well anymore because of coming up with such very destabalizing reforms at the work place.
The directors are determined to throw Buzeki under the bus the moment they get a chance to do so. Buzeki is also said to be having a cold war with HR director Grace Akullo who used to be her boss at public service where they both worked before.
Akullo is these days unhappy to see that most of her powers as director HR have been taken away and added to the executive director’s office, something which has made her to feel powerless.
Buzeki nowadays signs off things concerning HR and staff deployment without consulting Akullo whose supporters take this to be targeted at undermining her as Buzeki settles old scores at public service where Akullo used to be tough on her as her superior back then.
The 2 year contracts Buzeki gave for each of the KCCA directors have so far covered 6 months which means they are now remaining with 18 months or 1 and half years after which they will have to leave city hall. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com.
