Mbale city woman MP Lydia Wanyoto on Saturday loudly cried out for protection to protest the uncomfortable physical touching the Shema municipality MP Dickson Kateshumbwa was subjecting her to.
Lydia protested when Kateshumbwa avoided mentioning her name preferring to just say ‘my neighbour here’ as he referred to her as one of the people vying for the deputy speaker position.
Kateshumbwa responded by tapping her on the shoulder, something she protested by shouting ‘please don’t touch me, I don’t like those things.’ Kateshumbwa tried to apologize but damage had already been made as Lydia continued protesting.
The moderator tried to play down things by making it clear it was important for Wanyoto to reveal to the listeners the part of her body which had been touched to avoid embarrassing Kateshumbwa and causing him to be misunderstood.
Kateshumbwa admitted that the Ankole sub region he comes from is politically a very volatile region which is like a volcano. He explained that many people in Ankole towns these days specialize in using social media to undermine elected leaders like him.
He said he had been a victim of fake news and false reporting by social media users since the Anita Among investigations started. Kateshumbwa made it clear many of his political enemies were using the Among fall to weaken him in the hope he can lose his seat and they replace him.
