Security operatives, including personnel from the Army, the Police CID, and the Internal Security Organization (ISO), conducted a search at the residence of former Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among in Bukedea District on Friday. The operation commenced at approximately 11 AM at Anita’s home located in Aputput village, Ae-rere Parish, Kamutur Sub County.
The security team, having already deployed at the residence, continued their search until around 2:30 PM. During the search, they were accompanied by Anita’s legal counsel, Caleb Alaka, from Alaka and Co. The security personnel secured themselves inside the residence before proceeding to search Anita’s mother’s home in Apopong village, Apopong Parish, Kolir Sub County.
Media personnel were not permitted to enter the premises; however, they observed sealed boxes containing unspecified items being loaded into a Police Evidence Response vehicle. Anita Among, who is currently embroiled in controversy, is under investigation for alleged corruption and illicit wealth accrued during her tenure as Deputy Speaker of Parliament and subsequently as Speaker of the 11th Parliament following the death of Jacob Oulanya.
Anita, who has been the Women Member of Parliament for Bukedea District since 2016, is facing scrutiny as the probe into her financial dealings continues. The search is still continuing and is expected to continue to the residences of her allies in Bukedea district.-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
