An 18-year-old man has been convicted to to six years in Mubuku Government Prison after being charged on three counts of burglary, theft and assault.
The Kasese Grade I Magistrate’s Court presided over by the Kasese Senior Grade I Magistrate, His Worship Isha Alinda, heard that on December 19, 2025 while in Nyangonge village, Katooke Parish in Bugoye Sub-county, Milton Kule broke into Rabson Muhindo’s house with an intent to commit a felony.
The accused also stole 50 kilograms of cassava flour before beating Shakillah Musoki, his sister -in- law and inflicted her with a bodily harm.
When he reappeared in court Kule pleaded guilty to theft charges but denied others asking court for pardon.
However, the magistrate in his ruling said the sentencing was due to the raising cases of theft which had become rampant in the area, adding that the sentence should be a warning to all other would-be offenders.
Subsequently, the accused was sentenced him to 2-years for the first count of burglary, 3 years on the second count of theft and 1 year on the third count of assault.
The sentences will run co-currently.
