During the Tuesday early morning court session, Zahara Luyirika struggled to conceal the fact that her grey long skirt was increasingly becoming wet around the bottom area.

She had spent the preceding hours trying to suffocate the court case which three aggrieved Makindye residents, voters filed calling on court to inquire into the circumstances under which she became NUP flag bearer for Makindye west constituency and not Kampala woman MP which she is in writing applied for and expressed in.

Zahara, who has a lot of connections amongst people at the heart of the government of Uganda even when she is officially NUP, had tried to use her own security operatives to prevent court process servers from serving her with summons requiring her to come to court and defend herself.

She tried to cause the arrest of law firm clerks and court officers who had come to serve her summons but she was overwhelmed later on when they became relentless and accepted to be served. The process service clerks also used her email and WhatsApp line to serve her electronically. Her original plan was to play hide and seek while claiming I was never served.

When lawyers advised her that its admissible these days to be served through WhatsApp and emailing means, Zahara cracked and locked herself inside her office at KCCA and spent the whole day weeping like a street child who suddenly gets orphaned.

She was told she had no choice but to be in court to defend herself. That’s how she resorted to blackmailing the process by posting on her X account (Rt. Hon Maala Zahrah Luyirika) calling on foot soldiers to come to her rescue by way of prayers. Zahara, who has always used high level connections to silence those who dare oppose or stand in her way, started saying this is persecution.

She claimed that challenging her Makindye west MP race status on the NUP ticket in court, yet she originally expressed interest for Kampala woman MP seat, was an act of intimidation but she wouldn’t give up. On turning up at court early morning, Zahara realised the matter was more serious than she though and started shivering while calling on group of elderly Hajjats who escorted her, to begin praying earnestly.

She had a few lawyers by her side and she started sweating plasma after realizing this was damn serious. Court listened to oral submissions and arguments by lawyers of both sides and it was then announced that both parties must go and use the online court system to file written submissions as they await for judgment the next day.

A profusely-sweating Zahara got paralysed and had to be supported to stand up from her seat when it was time to leave the court room. She has promised to fight to the bitter end.

The court case might result into court ordering production of all the relevant documents so that NUP’s internal elections and flag bearers’ selection processes end up being scrutinized and inquired into like never before.

Zahara has threatened to use all the billions she has to destroy her chief rival Allan Sewanyana who she is more than 100% sure is the one ganging up with disgruntled area voters in the constituency to torment her using the court.
