At the Rwakitura function of Sunday where clerics prayed for him and Moses Kigongo delivered to him the victory certificate from the EC, president Museveni complained about the votes he got saying it was unacceptable for the presidential candidate of a party with so many registered members aged 18 and more, to get just 8m votes.
Museveni said that as of last May, NRM register had 21m registered members of whom 18m were of voting age.
He said that of the 18m, only 14m bothered to register with the EC to become eligible voters.
He said that he believes he got only 8m votes because the remaining 6m out of the 14m didn’t vote.
He said if they had voted, Kyagulanyi and his entire opposition group would now be hiding in tears and shame.
Museveni said that the opposition was lucky and escaped shame because his 6m members never bothered to vote. He said that for 2031 elections, he will be discussing with CEC members to work out strategies to ensure all of them vote.
Museveni seemed to indicate readiness to run for 8th term in 2031 recently when he refused to rule that out during a recorded interview with the UK-based Sky News TV channel.
He simply said he would follow what NRM members will decide as of that time as to whether he runs for re-election or not.
But in a recent Bad Natives podcast with Andrew Mwenda and Onyango Obbo, ex-Vision group CEO Robert Kabushenga indicated that as of that time Museveni, his former boss, would be physically too exhausted to meaningfully run for president again.
Mwenda advised Museveni to seek lessons and advice from Cameron’s Paul Biya who continues to be president even at the age of 93.
Kabushenga predicted that after campaigning in the country and addressing 143 rallies, Museveni will require months of resting in order to replace his lost energy and recover from physical exhaustion, prompting Mwenda to suggest that power gets delegated to CDF Muhozi and general Salim Saleh.
But at the Sunday event in Rwakitura Museveni said that in 2031 when all eligible NRMs vote, Kyagulanyi will be politically humiliated and taught a lesson he will never forget.
Museveni also called on all enrolled NRM members to vote next time so that Kyagulanyi is politically destroyed and humiliated once and for all.
Museveni also claimed that all the invalid and spoilt votes which numbered over 250k were NRM’s. He didn’t give proof for his claims. He said Kyagulanyi will soon realize that Uganda isn’t the land of martyrs for nothing.
He said he had for months been meeting 5th columnists from Kavule to get Kyagulanyi’s secrets and he made it clear this won’t be stopping soon. He will be meeting more Kavule insiders to get more intel.
He likened Kyagulanyi to fallen UNLA commander Gen Bazilio Okello who in the 1980s tried to destroy his NRA rebel army during the NRA bush war in Luwero but in the end died in his movie. He called Kyagulanyi’s NUP ‘that small group of traitors.’ He advised them to repent their political sins and surrender to NRM before its too late.
