Winnie Kiiza Refuses to Seek Kasese Re-election as Poverty Locks up Atkins inside FDC

By KT Reporter

The strategists at both Katonga and ANT headquarters are sad and blue after Winnie Kiiza refusing to carry their joint flag and seek re-election as Kasese woman MP come 2026.

The incumbent is Florence Kabugho who is sticking with FDC Najjanankumbi because she fears to lose out on the 300m Nandala Mafabi has promised for every incumbent FDC MP who refuses to defect to Katonga.

This money is the reason why even Kitgum’s Onekalit Dennis had to stay put at Najjanankumbi and the same applies to Bukonzo MP Atkins Katushabe. Sarah Opendi’s husband is broke and couldn’t afford staying away from Najja after hearing of Nandala’s promise to fund each incumbent MP’s re-election with 300m.

On the contrary, Nandala Mafabi has promised to invest up to 300m fighting re-election of FDC incumbents who defected to other parties especially NUP and PFF. He doesn’t have much problem with those who defected to NRM but he is very bitter with those who went to NUP and PFF.

His biggest targets include Hoima Woman MP Asinas Nyakato and the two FDC MPs from Jinja-Aga Isabirye and Dr. Timothy Batuwa plus the Gulu city woman MP Betty Aol. The two Jinja MPs annoyed Nandala when they defected to NUP, a party he considers to be worse than NRM. He says they won in 2021 because of him and he can’t believe they have now stabbed him in the back by joining NUP.

Sources say that Nandala Mafabi and his newly found friend Gerald Siranda of DP are determined to combine resources and use the IPOD billions they are going to be getting to ensure that NUP loses its position of being the leading opposition party.

The two are convinced that using IPOD billions they can combine efforts and share synergies to reduce NUP’s influence in the 12th parliament. Nandala and Siranda also have a shared hatred against Semujju Nganda and Erias Lukwago whose 2026 opponents they are more than prepared to finance using the IPOD billions which is going to be coming their way anytime soon.
