UCC Orders Deen Lubowa to Retract Defamatory Content

By KT Reporter

Veteran journalist Dean Lubowa Saava of TV10 Mazima has announced plans to kill UCC executive director Nyombi Thembo.

Saava says that he has already bought a panga and buckets full of acid which he intends to use to kill Nyombi Thembo.

His crime? He says this is because recently UCC investigated complaints and found that Saava is culpable and guilty of using his youtube and tik tok channels to tell defame, promote hate speech and generally commit acts of cyber harrassment against a group of businessmen, bank executives, members of parliament and university professors.

UCC declared that Saava is operating illegally and ordered him to apologize to those he has been targeting with his extortionist journalism. He has also been directed to delete all the cyber harrassment content on those complainants from his platforms.

UCC also gave him 5 days to become a licensed operator or else risk further regulatory steps including causing him to be arrested and prosecuted for operating illegal broadcasting activities.

Saava was also informed about the regulator’s readiness to direct telecom companies, whose data the public uses to access such content, to block access to his platforms.

The Commission had spent the whole year investigating complaints against Saava and when he was invited to come and explain and defend himself, he refused saying he is too big for such summons. He also said he has the backing of the president, first family members and the whole of state house.

He also claimed to have connections of big people in security which means there is nothing that the regulator UCC can do to him.

Now he says UCC was unfair because they condemned him unheard. Yet he was invited and repeatedly boycotted the Commission’s sittings while resorting to abusing Commission officials. Many observers are of the view that the Commission has been too lenient on Saava.

For example, the complainants wanted the Commission to force him to pay them money in compensation which UCC refused because that will be handled by the high court where Saava is facing many defamation cases already. Many are predicting that Saava is going to lose all those court cases when that time comes and he will end up like Teddy Seezi Cheye or Isaac Ssemakadde.

The UCC ruling was widely covered by the online and mainstream media including the Observer newspaper. Saava has now declared war on Observer newspaper bosses who he says are being used to destroy him. He is angry that their reporters didn’t call him for his comment.

Saava, who has also been targeting attorney general Kiwanuka Kiryowa saying he is a corrupt man doing dirty deals with electoral commission bosses, has said he won’t do any of the things UCC ordered him to do.

He says he won’t apologize to anyone and that there is nothing UCC can do to him because he has state house connections.

He also says that there is nothing UCC can do to him and that he will operate in Uganda whether UCC bosses like it or not.

Saava adds that his channels are too big and powerful for UCC to ever do anything.

He says that UCC and some judges are investigating defamation claims against him because they have been bribed to protect the corrupt and thieves he says he has been exposing on his youtube and tik tok channels.

Saava has vowed to kill Nyombi Thembo, the UCC boss who signed the latest ruling against him. He says he has already bought pangas and buckets of acid which he is going to use to kill Nyombi Thembo and other officials of the commission.

In his latest video, Saava gave out names of those UCC officials and made it clear he is a mad man who is going to cut them to death and see what Police will do to him.

Saava also said that Nyombi Thembo should retire and leave the UCC top job for someone else. In that same video he says many nasty things about UCC and its officials who have been at center of cyber harrassment investigations against him.

He says that what he keeps saying about big people in government and private sector are true things which even the UCC bosses know are true except that they just want to protect thieves in government and those who mistreat poor people.

He says that he has a lot of evidence yet he keeps dodging court sittings when called upon to come and make his case. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
