Because her Nansana municipality borders Kawempe, area long-serving mayor Regina Bakitte Nakazzi insisted on playing a major role at the rallies for Erias Nalukoola. Yet her Nansana municipality speaker Hamuza Kasozi had other thoughts. He connived with people at Kavule to use the Nalukoola rallies as staging ground to test his own popularity while preparing for his own 2026 bid against Bakitte.
Saying that Kyagulanyi is tired of and uncomfortable with old politicians from DP, Kasozi says Bakitte has to give way to him to come 2026 since he is a young man with whom the principal is more comfortable. Kasozi ended up getting more speaking opportunities at the Nalukoola rallies than Bakitte.
During one of the final Nalukoola rallies, Bakitte demanded that the MC allows her to say something and address the crowd because as she claimed, 40% of attendees at that particular rally were from her nearby Nansana municipality. This angered Kasozi allies inside Kavule who influenced the MC Waiswa Mufumbiro Alex to ignore her.
Bakitte, who used to work in Nsambya hospital as an accountant and she is a staunch catholic, tried to forcefully come to the microphone by defiantly remaining standing but Mufumbiro still disregarded her. A group of foot soldiers, acting on Kasozi’s behalf, walked over to where she was standing and physically pushed Bakitte away.
The incident was so violent that the over-molested Bakitte got dizzy and briefly collapsed in her chair at that very rally. Claiming she must be one of the Mpuuga DA sympathizers inside NUP, some of the foot soldiers at the rally even wanted to take away the plastic chair so that Bakitte had nowhere to sit.
There is growing determination to deny Bakitte the NUP flag in favor of Kasozi who Kavule based foot soldiers say is young and more loyal to Kyagulanyi and without the NUP flag, Bakitte will be FINITO and must be about to eat her last salary as Nansana municipality mayor.
Strategists in Mpuuga’s DA are looking forward to take care of and recruit Bakitte the moment NUP dumps her in favor of Kasozi. This is most likely how Bakitte is going to end her political career in total disaster and humiliation, having failed to correctly read the Nansana political barometer on good time.
