ealth officials in Arua City have isolated and are managing three patients at Oli Health Center Four after they presented with symptoms of Ebola.

The suspects, two adult males and one student, are undergoing case management for the third day after they were picked up from their homes within Arua City by the City surveillance and rapid response team following a tip from locals.

Currently, samples are being tested by Uganda Virus Research Institute-UVRI Laboratory in Arua City after they were cleared by the Ministry of Health, which makes it easier to test and get results for Ebola within three to four days.

According to Doctor Pontius Apangu, the City Health Officer of Arua, the three add up to an earlier nine persons who were also admitted at the facility, but their samples turned out negative for Ebola.

Doctor Apangu, however, says feeding and meeting the welfare needs of the persons in isolation has become increasingly difficult since the government has not given any support to them.

The three in isolation currently depend on charitable contributions from the City Taskforce and other well-wishers.

Meanwhile, Mathew Eyoku, Arua City Case Management Officer, Oli HC IV Isolation Center, has appealed to the Ministry for urgent intervention to the welfare of those in isolation, including health workers, who he said mainly rely on Good Samaritans and sometimes go hungry.

But Betty Akello Otekat, the Resident City Commissioner of Arua, has appealed to the people of goodwill to support the welfare of those in isolation as the Ministry of Health prepares to send support for isolation cases.  ‎
