The incumbent MP for Soroti County, Patrick Aeku, has been hospitalised in Soroti City following election violence during the NRM primaries in Orajai Parish, Ocokican Sub County.
Aeku, accompanied by his security detail, arrived at the polling station and allegedly began distributing 10,000 shillings. This angered many supporters, resulting in a violent confrontation where Aeku was assaulted and his vehicle was destroyed.
Aeku was rushed to the Doctor Plaza Clinic in Soroti City. According to Aeku’s campaign team, he has since been transferred from Soroti to Kampala for further medical attention, as his condition is deteriorating..
His troubles began a day earlier, on Wednesday, when one of his vehicles was involved in an incident that resulted in the death of Samuel Okello and injuries to several others in Kamuda Sub County.
