Joint Security Forces have recovered 14 heads of cattle raided from Kakamar sub-county in Kaabong district.
The successful recoveries were made on Friday after a fierce exchange with the suspected cattle raiders at the Sokomej crossing point in Lobongia, Kaabong District.
Mike Longole, the Mt Moroto regional police spokesperson, said that the recovered cattle are still in their custody at the Kakamar holding ground.
Longole said that the cows will be officially handed over to the rightful owners following the agreed procedures.
“We commend the joint forces for their prompt response and successful operation. This achievement demonstrates the commitment of the security agencies to protect lives and property in the region,” Longole said.
Longole urges the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to authorities.
While other parts of Karamoja are enjoying relative peace, Kaabong has continued experiencing pockets of insecurity.
It is reported that the armed warriors cause havoc at their youthful stage, who refused to surrender their guns to the government, while others acquired recently from the neighbouring countries, such as South Sudan and Turkana in Kenya-URN.
