Rev. Canon Joshua Kugonza Elected 3rd Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese

Rev. Canon Joshua Kugonza has been elected the 3rd Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese. On Sunday, the House of Bishops elected him at Zebra Hotel in Masaka city.

Kugonza’s election as the 3rd Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese has been confirmed by Rev. Canon William Ongeng, the provincial secretary of the Church of Uganda.

Kugonza was born on October 7th, 1976, in Kiryandongo district. He accepted Jesus Christ as his savior on September 13th, 1989, at Alwala church of Uganda in Apac district, West Lango Diocese.

Rev. Can Kugonza was ordained Deacon on January 3rd, 2010 and priest on December 14th, 2010, at St. Matthew’s Cathedral in Masindi.

He is married to Proscovia Allen Kugonza, and God has blessed them with four children.

Kugonza is the Diocesan secretary of Masindi Kitara Diocese, a position he has held since 2021.

He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Divinity from Uganda Christian University, a Diploma in Education from National Teachers College, Ngetta in Lira District and several other professional courses.

Rev. Canon Kugonza will be consecrated and enthroned as the 3rd Bishop of Masindi Kitara Diocese on August 3rd, 2025, at St. Matthew’s Cathedral.
