Police in Luwero District have launched a manhunt for unidentified assailants behind the brutal murder of a 63-year-old man. The deceased has been identified as Christopher Nsubuga, a resident of Kikubajjinja in Luwero Town Council. According to a statement issued on Tuesday evening by Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Regional Police spokesperson, the attack is believed to have occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on Monday.

Twiineamazima said Nsubuga was at his residence when he was attacked by unidentified men, who allegedly struck him on the head with a blunt object. Residents and rescuers rushed him to Luwero General Hospital for treatment, but he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Tuesday morning.

Police were notified of the incident on Tuesday, prompting the registration of a suspected murder case. Twiineamazima said a homicide team and a Scene of Crime Officer (SOCO) from Luwero Police Headquarters visited both the primary and secondary crime scenes—the victim’s residence and the hospital—to gather evidence.

A police canine unit was also deployed to assist with investigations. Statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, while the scenes were documented and photographed. Investigators collected blood samples for DNA analysis, and Form 48B was completed to facilitate a postmortem examination.

Preliminary police findings indicate that the deceased sustained two deep cuts. Investigators have also established that Nsubuga had reportedly been experiencing domestic misunderstandings with family members and was living alone at the time of the attack. Police also say investigations are ongoing, and efforts to identify, apprehend, and prosecute those responsible remain underway.Luganda Audio

Homicide continues to plague the Savannah region which covers three civic districts of Luwero, Nakaseke and Nakasongola. On April 28, 2026, Uganda Radio Network [URN] reported that residents of Namunsala Zone in Kakooge Town Council, Nakasongola District, were still grappling with shock after the body of 43-year-old Fred Bunjo was found lying outside his home under unclear circumstances.  Bunjo, who lived alone following a divorce, was discovered lying on his back within the compound of his residence. His body was covered in mud, likely from overnight rainfall. Savannah Region Police spokesperson Sam Twiineamazima said preliminary findings pointed to a violent struggle before Bunjo’s death-URN.
