Police at Oyam Central Police Station (CPS) are investigating Eva Agenorwot, Myene Sub County youth female councilor for allegedly of mismanaging the Restocking Fund meant for an elderly beneficiary.
Agenorwot, a resident of Bur Okango B village, Acimi Parish, Myene Sub‑County, was arrested on Wednesday on the orders of the Deputy RDC Oyam, Francis Behangana.
It is alleged that Agenorwot received UGX 5 million as next of kin for Rosca Acola, an 84‑year‑old woman, but the money never reached the intended beneficiary.
The Restocking Fund is a government program designed to support livestock restocking and improve household incomes in Lango, Acholi, and Teso sub‑regions.
Lawrence Okullo, the former Parish Development Committee Chairperson, explained that Acola seconded her granddaughter Agenorwot as next of kin to receive the funds. However, after the withdrawal, the money never reached Acola, contrary to government intentions.
Francis Behangana, Deputy RDC Oyam, confirmed that investigations are ongoing to establish the extent of the alleged mismanagement.
He also warned the public to desist from corruption and embezzlement tendencies, stressing that government programs must benefit the intended vulnerable groups.
