Onduparaka Football Club has launched a fundraising campaign to raise thirty million shillings to finance its preparations for the 2026/2027 season. The Arua City-based club seeks to strengthen its bid for a return to the Uganda Premier League.
The FUFA Big League club has announced plans to hold a mega fundraising dinner on July 18, 2026, bringing together supporters, sponsors, partners and other well-wishers to mobilise resources for the club’s pre-season activities.
Owen Ezaga Fudribo, the Head of Marketing and Public Relations at the club, told Uganda Radio Network that the funds raised will support player welfare, transport, feeding, accommodation and other logistical requirements ahead of the new FUFA Big League campaign.
“The fundraising dinner aims to raise UGX 30 million from supporters, partners, sponsors and well-wishers to support the club’s pre-season preparations and participation in the FUFA Big League,” he said.
For the past three seasons in the FUFA Big League, the club has largely relied on the collective support of its fans and well-wishers to sustain its operations after supporters took over the management of the club.
Earlier this year, the club also ventured into organising music concerts as an alternative source of income to address mounting financial challenges that threatened its operations and competitiveness during the closing stages of the 2025/2026 FUFA Big League season.
Welborn Anguandia, the Fans President-Elect of Onduparaka FC, said the initiative is intended to ensure the club is adequately prepared for the demanding season while also generating ideas from stakeholders on how to rebuild the former Uganda Premier League side.
Anguandia further appealed to individuals, companies, non-governmental organisations and other well-wishers to support the fundraising drive, saying every contribution, regardless of its size, will help the club achieve its ambitions.
The planned fundraising dinner comes as Onduparaka FC continues to grapple with financial constraints that have affected the club since its relegation from the Uganda Premier League at the end of the 2022/2023 season.
Onduparaka FC endured a disappointing 2025/2026 FUFA Big League campaign, finishing 12th on the 15-team table with 36 points from 30 matches. The Caterpillars registered nine wins, nine draws and 12 defeats, a significant decline from the 2024/2025 season, when they finished sixth-URN.
