Many NRM officials involved in the ongoing internal party elections are not happy with how their EC boss Odoi Tanga is handling finances.
They are bitter that their allowances are yet to be paid yet the 10bn the president gave at the start of the exercise hasn’t yet been accounted for.
Many party registrars are also still yawning and demanding for their allowances.
They want to know where the billions collected as nomination fees has been put by Tanga.
Whoever stood for any position in NRM even at village level had to pay 10k as nomination fees and this happened in all Uganda’s 72,000 villages.
Each village had more than 10 positions to be competed for and each position had more than one candidates.
Imagine how much Tanga the once poor Makerere professor, who used to move around in a grey pajero short chasis, collected yet his elections staff at lower levels haven’t yet got their facilitation.
Those wanting to stand for the position of NRM district chairman have to pay 100k to be cleared each and this is also a lot of money again.
Election officials are asking the hard questions and want answers from Tanga to understand why the entire party EC is stuck waiting for the president to give more money after the 10bn he gave earlier.
Tanga’s commission members are also unhappy because their EC boss doesn’t entertain questions on matters of the logistics involved. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
