Mathias Mpuuga was featured on CBS to be interviewed under the “Nze Ngabwendaba” segment moderated by his own advisor Joseph Lukyamuzi. The ex-LoP was speaking from the US where he participated in observing and learning from the just-ended American elections from which he said there is a lot NUP can learn if at all the party was being led by “sober minds.”
He said he intends to write a report and share it with his fellow Ugandans including the NUP leadership if the party was to be graceful and offer him a platform to share with them the useful lessons he picked. He said because he is convinced there is no way the NUP party will render him any audience, he will be sharing his information with Ugandans on the floor of Parliament where he said he is sure the Speaker will allocate him time to share one or two things he learnt from the US electoral system.
Mpuuga sarcastically laughed off the NUP leadership saying he doesn’t expect them to be interested in sharing his report because his ability to travel to the US amounted to an egg being thrown in their face because the top leadership at Kavule had funded their foot soldiers to peddle fake news that his visa and permission to travel to the US had been revoked because of the Shs500m he received under the Service Award and also to avenge his unwavering support for Speaker Anita Among upon whom a travel embargo was slapped by US and UK as part of the broader sanctions aimed at protesting her poor human rights track record.
Saying most American policy makers value him more than they value Bobi Wine, Mpuuga demanded to know from the NUP leadership why they aren’t apologising for having told such a lie regarding his US visa status. He asserted that the Dictatorship at Kavule must be hurting to see him freely travel to the United States without any restrictions, contrary to the fake news their foot soldiers had propagated against him.
He went on to claim that Bobi Wine and his NUP group aren’t as important to the American foreign policy calculus as they would like to make the world believe. He added that for the days he has been in America, where he travelled after the Coffee debate fracas, no one has asked him anything about NUP.
That even the regular Ugandans he has interacted with there have seemed not to have that much time to care or ask him anything about NUP. He said even among US policy makers, legislators and administration officials, NUP isn’t as conspicuous as foot soldiers like to make the world believe. His view is that NUP isn’t a big issue or factor when the American government decides anything about Uganda as the gullible foot soldiers have repeatedly been made to believe.
He said the politics of Bobi Wine is about nothing but grand deception which he said sometimes makes him conclude that the only truth about Kyagulanyi and fellow NUP leaders is their names and nothing more. Otherwise he wondered why anyone could tell such a lie about the alleged revocation of his visa well knowing the same wasn’t true at all.
