Police in Mityana District are investigating the death of 40-year-old Kanyankole, a resident of Buye-Kiikumbi, Mityana Municipality. According to Lameck Kigozi, Wamala Region Police spokesperson, Kanyankole’s body was discovered on Tuesday evening by a friend in the garden of King Faisal Primary and Secondary School, where they both worked.
Kigozi said Kanyankole had been drinking heavily following the local elections on January 27 and was last seen attempting to walk home. Preliminary findings suggest he may have lost his way, entered the garden, slipped, and hit his head on a rock.
The officer added that there is no evidence linking his death to local politics, despite Kanyankole previously raising concerns about electoral irregularities.
The body has been taken to Mityana General Hospital for a post-mortem examination, with investigators awaiting the pathologist’s report.
