Police in Luwero District have launched investigations into the suspected murder of a woman whose body has been discovered six months after she went missing.
The body of Aisha Mirembe was found on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, in Nabitete Village, Kalagala Sub-county, Luwero District. Her relatives recovered it.
Mirembe had been missing for approximately six months. Her body, now fully decomposed, was discovered inside her home.
Sam Twiineamazima, the Savannah Region Police spokesperson, confirming the development to URN, said preliminary investigations including a scene visit by specialized officers and detectives, indicate signs of foul play.
Police report that the body had been wrapped in several bed sheets and a mat, likely to mask the smell. The deceased was found in the bedroom of a two-room rental unit, while the front room was securely locked. Investigators suspect that the perpetrator may have been someone close to the deceased, possibly a lover or a relative with access to the premises.
Twiineamazima added that a postmortem examination is underway at Mulago City Mortuary to determine the cause of death. Police investigations are ongoing, with efforts to trace and arrest the suspects involved. The police are urging anyone with relevant information to come forward and assist with the inquiries.
