Police in Kyegegwa District are investigating a case of aggravated torture after a 10-year-old boy was allegedly beaten and severely injured by his father for reportedly stealing 1,000 Shillings.

Vincent Twesige, the Rwenzori West Police Spokesperson, identified the suspect as Kahigwa Saturday, a 45-year-old Kyakajaa Village, Kakabara Sub County resident. He is accused of inflicting serious physical harm on his son, Mutegeki Saturday.

Twesige revealed that the incident is believed to have occurred on March 28 at around 6:00 PM.

However, it was reported to police on April 8 when two detectives from Kyegegwa Police Station, Joyce Namuju and Martin Mubangizi, noticed the injured child while escorting a suspect to Kyegegwa General Hospital.

Upon observing the child’s condition, including a large wound on his buttocks, the officers intervened and questioned him. The child disclosed that his injuries were the result of a beating by his father.

The officers immediately arrested Kahigwa, who was at the hospital caring for the victim, and escorted him to the police station. He was arrested and charged with aggravated torture-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
