The Kyabazinga of Busoga, Gabula Nadiope IV has urged subjects to embrace malaria prevention ahead of his 11th coronation anniversary slated for 13th, September, 2025.
This year’s coronation anniversary being held under the theme of “a malaria free Busoga for generations to come,” is focusing on rallying communities to adopt preventive measures which will contribute to the reduction of malaria cases in communities.
Busoga kingdom’s minister of culture affairs, Richard Mafumo says the Kyabazinga was named as the ministry of health’s ambassador for malaria eradication, which informs their intentionality during this year’s anniversary.
Mafumo says Busoga is one of the sub regions with high malaria prevalence, high mortality cases among under five year olds.
Mafumo says the Kyabazinga uses his platform to champion pro-people causes for driving sustainable health and the general wellbeing of communities.
He clarified that the kingdom has set up a select committee geared towards bankrolling the activities where progress reports have already shown success towards their goal of intensifying malaria prevention across Busoga kingdom. These, he says, have involved rallying communities on the importance of sleeping under treated mosquito nets, bush clearing, draining stagnant water, early malaria screening and indoor residual spraying.
The kingdom’s spokesperson, Andrew Ntange, adds that the Kyabazinga has been a renowned public health advocate for the past 10 years of his reign and it is imperative for him to kickstart the second cycle of another decade of rallying communities on the importance of leading healthy lives.
