The Ministry of Health and Kitgum District Local Government have handed over the site for the construction of a 720 million Shilling medical store at Kitgum General Hospital. The project, expected to take six months to complete, is being implemented by Mangron Investment Limited.

The new medical store will provide a secure and efficient storage facility for medical supplies and equipment, enhancing the overall quality of healthcare services at the hospital. Eng. Moses Kakumba, the Quality Surveyor at the Ministry of Health, noted that the medical store will feature modern facilities, including a bulk store, cold room, porch, office for the pharmacist, and office for the secretary, among others.

“The Ministry of Health is committed to improving healthcare infrastructure in Kitgum District,” Eng. Kakumba said. “We will be supervising the construction work closely to ensure it meets the required standards.” Kitgum District Chairperson, Arwai Christopher Obol, welcomed the project, acknowledging the district’s past struggles with poor healthcare infrastructure.

“We are grateful to the Ministry of Health and Mangron Investment Limited for this project,” Mr. Obol said. “We are committed to working together to ensure its successful completion.” Geoffrey Oguti, the Kitgum Assistant Resident District Commissioner, warned the contractor against any misconduct or undermining of district authorities.

“We will not tolerate any disrespect towards district leaders,” Oguti said. “If such behavior occurs, we will recommend the Ministry of Health terminate the contract immediately.”

Capt. Grace Omuron, Managing Director of Mangron Investment Limited, assured stakeholders that the company would execute the contract to the highest standards and cooperate fully with district officials throughout the project. “We are committed to delivering a high-quality medical store that meets the needs of Kitgum General Hospital,” Capt. Omuron said.
