Led by Adam Luzindana Buyinza and Aidah Nantaba, Museveni supporters in Kayunga have ganged up to fight tycoon Moses Karangwa who they have vowed to castrate should NRM be defeated for a second time in Kayunga by Bobi Wine’s NUP as it happened in 2021.
For presidency, Bobi defeated Museveni there and of the four MP seats, NRM only won the one of Amos Lugoloobi. The others were Charles Tebandeke for Bbaale and Patrick Nsanja for Ntenjeru north and both of these are for NUP. Woman MP Idah Nantaba is independent though supportive of president Museveni as a person.
The Buyinza group members have petitioned the president claiming that NRM support in Kayunga is reducing because, as party chairman there, Karangwa is involved in too much intrigue and has failed to unite party members hence their defeat by NUP, which is clearly going to win even more seats in 2026.
Many of the cadres and Museveni supporters from Kayunga have been speaking to NRM delegates at Kololo pleading with them not to waste their votes on Karangwa who they say has no capacity to use the regional vice chairperson position to increase NRM’s support in Buganda.
He is accused of using money and other influences to impose only his relatives and cronies on the party during party primaries and that many of these aren’t popular enough to win. Karangwa says he is a good man and that Buyinza and Nantaba are just envious of his success as a businessman and politician.
