The Judiciary has deployed 18 newly appointed judicial officers and transferred 48 others at the rank of Registrars and Magistrates to various stations across the country, in a move aimed at taking justice services closer to the people.
According to a statement from the Judiciary’s Public Relations and Communications Registry, the deployments and transfers are intended to strengthen service delivery, improve court performance, and enhance access to justice nationwide.Speaking on the exercise, Chief Justice Alfonse Chigamoy Owiny-Dollo described the postings as an opportunity for judicial officers to innovate and improve service delivery at their new stations. He urged them to leave the courts they are assigned to in a better state than they found them.Owiny-Dollo also cautioned officers against corruption, tardiness, and abuse of office, calling on all Judiciary staff to uphold integrity and professionalism. He noted that Ugandans are eager for justice and emphasized that the Judiciary has the capacity to deliver quality services.
Communicating the changes, the Acting Chief Registrar, Pamela Lamunu Ocaya, said the new deployments take immediate effect, while transfers will become effective on January 12, 2026.
Among the newly deployed Deputy Registrars, Kosia Kasibayo has been moved from Masindi to the Family Division, Andrew Kabombo from Mbarara to Bushenyi, Ronald Kayizzi from Buganda Road to the Land Division, Simon Toloko from Masaka to Arua, and Racheal Nakyazze from the Anti-Corruption Division to the Commercial Division.
Several Chief Magistrates have also been posted to new stations. Doreen Ainembabazi has moved from LDC Chambers to Kawempe, Julius Mwesigye from Nakawa to the Chambers of the Deputy Chief Justice, Daphine Ayebare from Makindye to Mengo, and Lorna Patience Tukundane from LDC Chambers to Isingiro. Obol Conrad Oroya has been transferred from Lukaya to Arua, while Asuman Muhumuza from LDC Chambers has been posted to the Standards, Utilities and Wildlife Court.
The Chief Justice has further effected transfers involving Magistrates. Nicholas Nanyumba has been posted to Masaka High Court, Flavia Namugga to Kasese High Court, Ceasor Chemutai to the Criminal Division, Phiona Twesigye Natukunda to Bushenyi High Court, Brenda Nakabira to Mukono High Court, Edina Cox Akorimo to the Land Division, and Joy Janet Khayiyi to the Chambers of the Principal Judge.
Other Magistrate transfers include Moses Nabende from Lugazi to Mbarara, Roselyn Nsenge from Kawempe to Lugazi, and Abert Asiimwe from Tororo to Masaka. Atim Sheila Gloria, a Principal Magistrate, has been transferred from the Chief Justice’s Chambers to Luzira, where she will serve as officer in charge.
In additional changes, Deputy Registrar Godfrey Kaweesa has been moved from Lira to the Alternative Dispute Resolution Registry, while Janeva Natukunda and Zulaika Nanteza have been transferred to the Court of Appeal.
