Joint security forces have recovered an illegal SMG rifle and arrested one suspect in Nabilatuk District. The recovery was made today, 24/09/2026, at about 8:00 am during a disarmament operation in Lopie Village, Kalokwameri Parish, Kosike Sub-county.
The operation followed credible intelligence that one Lolim, a resident of Lopie Village, and Emmanuel Loyep, a resident of Losimit Village, Lorukumo Parish, Lolachat Sub-County, had jointly contributed money to purchase the rifle at the beginning of September 2026.
It is alleged that the suspects later went to Amudat District, where they raided 13 heads of cattle. While returning to Nabilatuk, they were intercepted by the owners (Pokot); an exchange of fire ensued, one Pian warrior was put out of action, and all 13 cows were recovered.
Mike Longole, the Mt. Moroto Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest and recovery of the firearm, numberless 11797, on the bolt carrier.
Longole explained that security forces impounded 478 goats from the community last week to aid the recovery of the gun. As a result, the goats’ owners pressured the suspect until he surrendered himself on Thursday morning.
Lolim was arrested at his home in Lopie Village. He led the forces to Napuna Village, Natirae Sub-County, where the rifle had been hidden at the home of one Loilo, who fled upon seeing security forces approaching.
”The rifle has been recovered and exhibited. Efforts to apprehend those at large are ongoing. We call upon the community to cooperate with security forces,” Longole said.
