The Iteso Cultural Union (ICU) is in the final stages of sealing a partnership with Bukedea Health Institute to enhance educational opportunities for underprivileged Iteso children. According to Samuel Peter Ebiau, the ICU office administrator, the union is currently reviewing the terms of the agreement before formal signing.
If approved, ICU will contribute shs800,000 towards the tuition of each vulnerable student pursuing Nursing or Midwifery. Thomas Emuge, the administrator at Bukedea Health Institute, welcomed the partnership, saying the institution hopes to gain further support and sponsorship opportunities through the agreement.
Currently, ICU supports over 680 vulnerable Iteso students enrolled in various programs, including Nursing, Midwifery, Agriculture, and other technical courses.
Beneficiaries are studying at institutions such as Kampala University, Agributec Billington College in Serere, St. Francis Schools of Health Sciences in Mukono, Teso Pride in Serere,
Lubega Institute of Nursing and Health Professionals in Iganga, Jerusalem Institute of Health Sciences in Lira, and Alice Anume Memorial School of Nursing & Midwifery in Pallisa.
