The government has provided printers, desktop computers and two motorcycles to water user groups and cooperatives at the Wadelai Irrigation Scheme in Pakwach District to improve record-keeping and support field operations.
Benedette Awori, the District Community Development Officer and project focal person, said the equipment would support the offices of the Irrigation Water Users Committee and cooperative organisations operating at the scheme.
Ibrahim John, a senior engineer at the Ministry of Water and Environment, said the facilities were part of the contractor’s scope of work.
Wekupare George, chairperson of the Irrigation Water Users Committee, said the equipment would help mobilise farmers, monitor activities at the scheme and maintain farmers’ records.
He added that the printers would make it easier to produce documents for farmers and visitors.
Pakwach Resident District Commissioner Nsubuga Bweyayo and district chairperson Shabban Ofoi Kinobe urged the beneficiaries to use the equipment responsibly and ensure its safety. They said the facilities were intended to improve service delivery to farmers across the irrigation scheme-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
