On Saturday, Ofwono Opondo told the nation on radio capital that he had met Anita Among on Thursday for 2 hours, an interaction during the former speaker told him she wasn’t bitter about what she had been through and that she was fully supporting the party’s choice of Oboth Oboth as the next speaker.
Opondo said she told him to request the NRM party top leadership and the NRM caucus to allow her show her love for Oboth by being the one to nominate him at Kololo.
But when the Monday time for the Kololo event came, Anita Among was nowhere to be seen. This means either Opondo was lying about her request or it was simply rejected by the ruling party leadership and those leading the NRM caucus in parliament, which is the one which fronted Oboth.
Among, for whom the world has almost come to an end, was absent and no official communication was given. Some of her supporters have rejected claims that she is under house arrest and have instead argued that she doesn’t have any car to use for the Kololo event since everything was taken away from her.
Ugandan veteran journalist Charles Obbo had suggested on X that Anita Among creates viral moments for social media users by unexpectedly showing up driving in a cheap car like a probox or even a boda boda to make a clear statement that she has accepted the new reality.
