The Mukono Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Hajjat Fatumah Ndisaba Nabitaka, has ordered the closure of Cream Field Vocational Secondary School in Nakifuma–Naggalama Town Council after 15 Senior Four students missed their Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations, which officially began Monday. The closure followed shocking revelations that the students had not been registered for the national examinations by the school’s director, Medi Senfuka, who has since gone into hiding.

In a strongly worded statement issued at the school, Ndisaba described the incident as an act of “gross irresponsibility” by the school’s administration, warning that such negligence would not be tolerated. “All students must go back home. This school is not fit to continue operating,” she said. The decision came after a tense morning scene at the school, where the affected students turned up in full uniform, ready for their exams, only to learn they were not on the UNEB register. Parents wept openly, some collapsing in distress as the magnitude of the betrayal sank in.

Efforts by Nakifuma County MP Fred Simbwa Kaggwa to intervene with UNEB Executive Director Daniel Odongo proved futile after UNEB confirmed that there was no evidence of registration or payment for the students. “It’s heartbreaking. The children came prepared, but they were betrayed by those who were supposed to protect their future,” Hon. Simbwa said.

Meanwhile, Deputy RDC Moses Muyambi disclosed that Senfuka also owns another institution, Happy Hills Primary School, which was later inspected and found to be in a deplorable state. Pupils were discovered sharing mattresses, the hygiene was poor, and there were too few teachers.

One of the so-called teachers, Bosco Kiyingi, was arrested after attempting to block the Deputy RDC from addressing staff. He was later found to be unqualified and is currently detained at Naggalama Police Station. All pupils from Happy Hills have since been relocated to nearby government schools for safety and continuity of learning.

Nakifuma–Naggalama Town Council Mayor, Isa Nvule, condemned the exploitation by school proprietors who establish private schools without adequate resources or management capacity. “This is pure exploitation of parents and students. We cannot allow people to play with the future of our children,” he said. Police in Mukono District have since launched a manhunt for Senfuka, whose whereabouts remain unknown as investigations continue.
