Even when the NUP candidate Robert Kyagulanyi continues to traverse the country canvassing for support and votes, while exhibiting energy, sources close to him say he isn’t doing that very well health-wise.
It has been revealed that Kyagulanyi was a few days ago diagnosed with a combination of viral infection and malaria. This was after he complained of general fatigue and weakness in the body. Besides that feeling of general exhaustion, he also had sore throat-related complications, occasional speaking and breathing difficulties, which made him to feel physically weak.
This painful feeling escalated in the middle of his campaign trail in some of the Bunyoro districts where he, at some point, nearly lost his voice and was unable to very audibly address the large crowds that came to listen to him.
Several other curtain-raising speakers had to be crafted on the program to eat up much of the rally time so that Kyagulanyi speaks for much less and that exactly is what happened.
“He was lucky in 2021, he didn’t have to travel that much because of covid movement restrictions but this year 2026 is different because he has to go to every corner of the country and police interference of blocking the roads leading to major trading centers has caused him to take longer routes which has turned out to be very exhausting in terms of fuel, the general campaign logistics and physical exhaustion too.” Says a source close to the principal.
He adds that “Unlike Museveni who keeps dropping off to rest under the guise of attending to state duties and has the privilege of using the choppers to fly around, Kyagulanyi has to physically be everywhere, traveling by road while struggling to overcome artificial obstacles which security keeps throwing at him.”
The source says it has been decided to keep details of Kyagulanyi’s mild health complications a top secret to avoid demoralizing foot soldiers especially those volunteering to travel with him and are part of his entourage.
“He is youthful and that has been our message of an energetic candidate and allowing supporters to know that he is unwell because the long campaign trail has exhausted him will diminish his invincibility as a leading Museveni opponent. That’s why his health struggles are being treated as top secret only known by a few top party officials.” Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
