Police in Soroti City East Division have retrieved the charred body of an unidentified adult male, discovered in the Campswahili Ward area of Soroti City Forest. The body, believed to be of a man aged over 30, was discovered by a group of individuals collecting sand from the forest, who immediately reported the matter to local authorities.

Gideous Ocen, the LC1 Chairperson for Campswahili Ward Cell B4, said the scene pointed to a suspected murder and attempted concealment. “We observed that the hands and legs were tied, which suggests he was murdered elsewhere. Motorcycle tracks were also found nearby, indicating that he was brought here, burnt using available firewood, and left to decompose,” Ocen stated.

Eyewitnesses confirmed that the body was found lying face-up and had been severely burnt, making identification impossible. Police were promptly called to the scene to document evidence and begin investigations. Innocent Halerimana, the Officer in Charge of Soroti City East Division Police, confirmed the body was completely unrecognizable due to the extent of burning and decomposition.

“We urge the community to report any missing persons. The body is beyond recognition, and we need public cooperation to help identify the victim,” Halerimana said. The body has since been taken to Soroti City Mortuary for further forensic examination as investigations continue-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
