By KT Reporter

Some few days back, lord mayor Erias Lukwago attended the burial of Nambooze’ father in Nkoowe Wakiso district. The reception wasn’t good and the gathering humiliated him by over praising his rival Balimwezo who wasn’t even present.

They kept calling Balimwezo’s name and mourners were generally not excited during his speech in which he called for opposition unity. Others were praised by the gathering and Lukwago was mostly ignored. He was all alone even when Kyagulanyi and Joel Senyonyi tried their best to make him feel at home.

Medard Segona was the MC as area MP and he tried to make his long-time friend comfortable but still the crowd didn’t warm up to Erias Lukwago the way it used to be in his good days.

Seeing how humiliated he was, Kyagulanyi spoke to him after the burial ceremony and assured him it was not too late. He asked him to become practical and make a deal with NUP. Kavule’s proposal is that the PFF boss steps down from the lord mayorship race and leaves the post for Balimwezo.

As part of the ongoing negotiations, Kavule has assured Lukwago they can back him for Rubaga south MP seat even without being asked to leave his PFF to join NUP.

“The principal has made it clear that it’s already too late to pull out Balimwezo because he was already nominated but NUP is ready to back Lukwago for Lubaga south by ensuring no umbrella candidate is fronted against him.” Says the Kavule insider.

Kyagulanyi has realized that fronting Lukwago in Lubaga south will put the lord mayor and his PFF party of Katonga in direct confrontation with Mathias Mpuuga’s DF party which is fronting their national chairman Lubega Mukaku for Lubaga south.

Insiders say that Kavule badly wants the lord mayor post because they have realized it’s the biggest win they can ever get against Museveni and his NRM. They have also realized there are a lot of juicy deals which can be made and bring a lot of money for the top party officials using the office of lord mayor.

And being very loyal to Kyagulanyi and his family, Kavule is sure that Balimwezo will become a conduit through which billions of cash can be made from the big deals inside city hall.

This is a developing story which will be updating from time to time as these talks intensify between PFF and the NUP principal.
