The Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Kasana-Luweero, Rt. Rev. Lawrence Mukasa, has urged Catholic men to uphold marital fidelity and shun promiscuity and multiple sexual relationships.
Bishop Mukasa said Catholic men are expected to respect the Church’s teaching on marriage, which recognises marriage as a faithful union between one man and one woman.
He stressed that Catholic men should be exemplary in their conduct and live according to the teachings of Jesus Christ.
The Prelate made the remarks on Sunday, August 9, 2026, during celebrations marking his third anniversary as Bishop of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, held alongside the annual celebration of the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Catholic Men’s Guild.
The two events were jointly organised by the Diocesan Catholic Men’s Guild, under the leadership of Dr Ronald Kibira, and were marked by the celebration of Holy Mass at Our Lady of Fatima Queen of Peace Kasana Cathedral, presided over by Bishop Mukasa.
In his homily, Bishop Mukasa challenged Catholic men to be courageous and avoid fear in carrying out their various responsibilities.
He said men should be people upon whom their families, communities and the Church can depend, particularly in matters of security, financial responsibility and other areas of service.
The bishop urged Catholic men to demonstrate their faith through exemplary conduct, saying their lives should reflect the values taught by Christ.
Bishop Mukasa also expressed gratitude to the faithful for their support during his first three years as head of the Diocese.
He said the achievements registered during his episcopate had been made possible by the cooperation and support of Catholics across the Diocese. Bishop Mukasa was consecrated and installed as Bishop of Kasana-Luweero on August 5, 2023, in a historic ceremony attended by tens of thousands of faithful at the Diocesan headquarters in Kasana, Luweero.
He also encouraged Catholic men to actively register for the 2027 diocesan pilgrimage to Israel, urging them to take advantage of the spiritual opportunity.
After the Mass, the Kasana-Luweero Diocesan Vicar General, Msgr Vincent De Paul Mukiibi, commended the Catholic Men’s Guild for organising the joint celebration.
Msgr Mukiibi said the event demonstrated the men’s commitment to a pledge they made several years ago to remain active in Church activities and never tire or turn back in their service to the Church.
He echoed Bishop Mukasa’s call for Catholic men to believe in themselves, remain courageous and take up their responsibilities in the Church and society.
Since Bishop Mukasa assumed leadership of Kasana-Luweero Diocese, the number of parishes has increased from 20 to 32, reflecting the Diocese’s continued pastoral expansion-URN. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
