AUTO@30 Media Launch Update

The Association of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), in partnership with House of DJs, today officially launched the AUTO@30 Tourism Dinner Gala, a milestone event celebrating 30 years of championing Uganda’s tourism sector.

The gala is scheduled to take place on 17th October 2025.

The media launch brought together key stakeholders and partners in the tourism ecosystem, including the Uganda Tourism Association represented (UTA) by its President Ms. Yogi Birigwa, Uganda Tourism Board (UTB) represented by its CEO Ms. Juliana Kaggwa, Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) represented by Ms. Grace Mubeezi, Ministry of Tourism, Wildlife & Antiquities represented by the Commissioner of Tourism Development Mr. Lyazzi Vivian and the Tourism Police.

Speaking at the launch, Ms. Juliana (UTB CEO) noted that AUTO is a powerhouse in the Tourism industry through which Tourism development is being championed.

AUTO Chairperson, Ms. Civy Tumusiime, applauded Uganda Tourism Board, Centenary Bank, and Marasa Africa for signing up as official sponsors of the upcoming gala, underscoring their commitment to strengthening Uganda’s tourism industry. Ms. Civy encouraged other partners to come on board and celebrate the tremendous growth Tourism has witnessed over the years through the Association.

Other heartwarming remarks were made by the pioneer members of the Association including Mr. Ben Katumba aka “uncle Ben”, Mr. Bonifence Byamukama, Ms. Marinka Sanc George among others.

The gala, set to be a highlight of Uganda’s tourism calendar, will not only celebrate AUTO’s three decades of contribution to the industry but also reinforce partnerships across public and private sectors while spotlighting the future of sustainable tourism in Uganda.

AUTO leadership emphasized the importance of collaboration in promoting Uganda as a premier destination and expressed gratitude to stakeholders who have walked the journey with the association since its inception.
