Unknown assailants have raided Kisiita East Cell, Kisiita town Council in Kakumiro district killing a businesswoman. The deceased businesswoman has been identified as Alice Natukunda 32, a resident of the same area.
Available information gathered by Uganda Radio Network (URN) indicates that, the unknown masked thugs armed with machetes raided the deceased’s home at around 9 p.m., on Saturday.
When they accessed her home, the thugs reportedly asked her to hand over to them the money she had in her possession. When she declined, they reportedly hacked her severally on the head, face and neck killing her instantly.
They threatened to kill two other occupants including the deceased’s husband who were in the same house and warned them against sounding any alarm.
After executing their mission, they reportedly made off with a bag containing shillings 17,500,000 belonging to the deceased businesswoman and varnished with it to an unknown destination.
Justus Tugumisirize, the deceased’s husband, says the thugs raided their home when they had not yet slept and ordered his wife to surrender the money she had in her possession to them and when she insisted, they reportedly pounced on her, hacking her severely. He said Natukunda succumbed to her injuries she sustained during the brutal attack.
After the incident, he reported the matter to Kakumiro police who rushed to the area and commenced investigations.
Julius Hakiza, the Albertine region police spokesperson has confirmed the incident adding that a team of flying squad detectives has been deployed to track down the suspects. He says police picked up the body and conveyed it to the Kakumiro Health Center IV mortuary for postmortem examination and later it was handed over to the relatives for burial arrangements.
