The Alur cultural leader, Philip Olarker Rauni III, has been involved in an accident.
The crash happened on Thursday at the Inin Alwi Trading Centre in Pakwach District, on his way to the Royal Palace at Atyak Winam, for the ceremony of blessing the two vehicles which were offered to the cultural leader by the Government.
In a statement issued by the institution’s media department, as the royal convoy slowed at a road hump, a driver of a Fuso lorry who was behind the convoy lost control and rammed, first into Ubimu Rauni III’s car, and then into the lead car.
According to the statement, the driver sped off, but the Director of Operations, Jimmy Cwinya’ai, who was in the third car, gave chase and apprehended the driver.
David Rupinyi, the Director of Communication and Kingdom Spokesperson, said that Ubimu Rauni III and his entourage did not sustain any injuries.
Rupiny says that Ubimu Rauni III was safely evacuated to the Palace, where he is carrying out his roles normally.
The driver whose identity is yet to be established is detained at Pakwach Central Police, and the lorry was impounded.
