It has always been rumored that Mukono MP Betty Nambooze is a bad-mannered lady who never keeps friends.
Even in the world of work, she is fond of using people’s kids to work for her as office assistants only to dump them later. She dumps at leisure. This exactly is what she did when she totally forgot about Katenda Luutu who trained and introduced her to the journalism world.
Her selfish character explains why she has always fallen out with allies even in the national politics.
Erias Lukwago played a very big role in her rise to national fame and politics but today they don’t talk anymore. She will rebut this because they haven’t quarreled anywhere publicly but the bitter truth is that they aren’t allies anymore. Even if they meet at public functions, the body language clearly shows that the personal chemistry they once had is long gone.
Kabaka’s minister Daudi Mpanga under whom she worked as head of head Kabaka’s civic education committee was her close person yet they aren’t that much close anymore.
Moses Kasibante aka class monitor was closer to her more than any of these and yet they aren’t allies anymore.
Kasibante now says she is a nasty woman full of intrigue & dishonesty. How can all these people be wrong or bad and she is the only one who is right? Not possible!
Semujju Nganda was a close ally and this isn’t the case anymore. Being Nambooze, she will deny this too because they haven’t quarreled publicly as yet but deep inside her heart she knows the truth.
She celebrated when Kyagulanyi recalled lawyer George Musisi from Mukono municipality to Kira of Semujju Nganda. She used to say she would fight anyone disturbing Erias Lukwago, Semujju Nganda or even Medard Segona. But today she is totally quiet and privately jubilant to see Kyagulanyi determined to take down Ssemujju.
Even Segona is being fought by Kyagulanyi’s foot soldiers and Nambooze won’t raise a finger. All she does is to buy groceries and load them on a lorry to deliver at Magere.
She now pretends to be for Muwanga Kivumbi yet quuetly she is burning with envy. He became Buganda caucus chairman when she believed the pisition was naturally hers.
She envies Muwanga because he talks on CBS where Katikkiro chased her from because of her bad manners, like Kin Kariisa did to her at NBS. Even Pastor Jackson Ssenyonga chased her from top radio and Balyeku is about to ban her from his Baba Tv. Semujju talks there too at CBS, which she isn’t happy about. Even Luukwago.
Muwanga Kivumbi was given Mpuuga’s job of NUP deputy president for which Namboze had been scheming. Bad-mannered Nambooze privately hates Muwanga for that.
The way she has turned against Mpuuga has left many shocked. Her own political assistants managing her political office and drivers are shocked.
Robert Namugera Kaketo, her chief of staff and personal assistant for 14 years 2010-2024, has led the way to speak out against Namboze’s treachery.
He posted an open letter to Namboze on facebook and called her out on the Mpuuga betrayal.
In his open letter post, the fearless Namugera reminded Namboze of the great things brother Mpuuga did for her over the years.
He reminded her about the 5 girls from her constituency Mpuuga used to educate at his datamine free of charge for all those years, every year. This would increase Nambooze’s popularity because families of those girls would be happy she has lobbied for their education.
Mpuuga would also give scholarships to poor girls and boys recommended by Betty Namboze.
Namugera, who resigned on seeing how Namboze was using her closeness to Kyagulanyi to destroy independent minded NUP cadres in Mukono, also reminds her about all this and wonders why sycophancy would push her into joining Kyagulanyi to accuse a good man like Mpuuga of betraying MPs Allan Ssewanyana and Ssegirinya, which isn’t the case.
In the facebook post, Namugera also reminded Namboze of the 2020 incident when many of her camp members and political allies in Mukono had been denied NUP tickets.
As thecBuganda deputy president, Mpuuga personally intervened and defended Namboze against people power boys who wanted to marginalise her in Mukono on grounds that she had taken too long to join Kyagulanyi in NUP for 2021.
Namugera says Namboze hired two coasters in which her and supporters travelled to go and thank Mpuuga for what he did for her favored flag bearers in NUP Mukono. He wonders why she has forgotten all that and she is now out there destroying Mpuuga’s good name.
Namugera also talks about the stage managed violence he and others suffered in Mukono and used their wounds to get sympathy votes for Nambooze who was very much scared of Museven’s blue-eyed gal Fatuma Ndisaba in 2016.
He was never rewarded and yet remained with permanent scars up to this day.
He asks Namboze about what happened to the NATO Article 5-like Ssuubi slogan she used to say to them daily that an attack on one Ssuubi principal (now Mpuuga) would be an attack on all.
And apart from Namugera, there are other former political office employees who have left Nambooze protesting mistreatment and treachery.
These include her former PA Allan Mawanda who is now openly with Mpuuga’s DA and is the speaker Mukono central division. He started developing issues with her as early as mid-2021.
It eventually exploded and he left her. She has been fighting hard to destroy him.
Her former driver Fred Kiyimba has also left her saying he can’t stand such a treacherous person who is always looking for people to use and dump.
Joseph Bomboka was her research assistant but has also left over similar concerns. He left a few weeks ago, this very year.
Stephen Kaddu was her constituency manager but resigned recently and immediately fell ill and he is down with kidney problems yet Namboze has refused to stand with him at all.
