Here’s How Kyagulanyi lost ex-Makerere president Julius Kateregga to rival politics

Former Makerere guild president Julius Kateregga is no longer a NUP loyalist and blind follower of Robert Kyagulanyi the way he used to be. These days yetegerera and he prefers making independent political decisions as an adult.

Having refused to continue being under Kyagulanyi’s armpits and a sycophant of Rubongoya, Kateregga recently defied the NUP leadership by remaining in the KCCA lord councillor race after the party flag was given to someone else yet he is the incumbent.

Kateregga took this to be kamanyiro and stayed in the race as an independent to represent Makerere university on the lord mayor’s council at city hall for a second term. Because he has a lot of money, Kateregga, whose colors have remained red, has high chances of winning and thereby humiliating the dictatorship at Kavule.

Knowledgeable insiders say that Kavule bosses became envious of Kateregga when he was deployed to represent KCCA on the Makerere governing council from where he started getting exposed to big money and also made friends with big powerful people.

One of these influential people Kateregga made friends with was first family lawyer Edwin Karugire, who is the husband of president Museveni daughter Natasha Karugire.

Edwin is an influential figure at the Rwakitura palace and being his right-hand man has all of a sudden made Kateregga to transform himself into a wealthy and powerful political player who is now too big for the comfort of Kyagulanyi, Joel Ssenyonyi, Benjamin Katana, Rubongoya and other big people at Kavule.

Saying this is now his moment to shine, because God didn’t create him to suffer because of the so-called struggle, Kateregga has remained unrepentant and he has confided in friends that Kyagulanyi and other big men at Kavule can go and hang if they like but for him, he has moved on and there is nothing they can ever do to him anymore. Mbu yakowa embeela embi.

His power and wealth have made the big men at Kavule to become envious of Kateregga who they fear might influence many other poverty-stricken foot soldiers to see light and jump off the troubled political ship, which uncle money Kateregga believes will very soon sink into total extinction.
