The Rwenzururu King, Charles Wesley Mumbere Irema-Ngoma, has expressed gratitude to the Ugandan government for its support towards his medical treatment abroad. Mumbere also praised his subjects and the Obusinga Bwa Rwenzururu (OBR) cabinet for their support in ensuring his health and strength.
The King returned to Uganda on Monday after flying to Turkey in mid-October for specialized medical care. He was received at Entebbe International Airport by the Kingdom Prime Minister, Rt. Hon. Benson Kule Baritazale, alongside his wife, Her Royal Highness Agnes Ithungu Asimawe.
Speaking to the press at Entebbe, Mumbere said he was feeling much better, noting an improvement in his sight, which now allows him to read and write. He also extended his gratitude to the Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, for his continued support during his treatment abroad.
Mumbere said that developments, including the birthday run conducted in his absence, reflect the fact that the kingdom belongs to all subjects of Kasese-Banya-Rwenzururu.
Balitazale, the Prime Minister, updated the King on a number of projects, including putting in place a resource mobilization plan to implement the kingdom’s five-year development plan. The day for the King’s return to Kasese is yet to be announced by officials.
