FDC candidate Ibahim Kasozi’s bid for the position of Kampala lord mayor has clearly suffered a still birth and it has in essence, ended even before taking off.
He is clearly not one of the front runners as the race is clearly between Erias Lukwago and Balimwezo of NUP. Even the NRM candidate is ahead of Kasozi who people in all Kampala divisions have rejected.
Kasozi sometime back campaigned in Luzira along with his presidential candidate Nandala Mafabi where he made a speech demeaning Bobi Wine the NUP president. This reduced his support as Bobi Wine isn’t supposed to be criticized, according to voters in Kampala.
His posters can’t be seen everywhere in the five divisions because they are not on high demand like those of Lukwago and Balimwezo. Boda-boda riders have to be given money first to allow to wear his campaign materials and display it on their stages.
This clearly shows he doesn’t stand much chance because voters keep talking about dirty money at Najjanankumbi. This has caused his original funders to pull out and abandon him because they don’t see much return on investment for example a fellow muslim tycoon who owns a lot of rental commercial properties in down town Kampala.
Even his own brother of Mityana who belongs to NRM has been proposing that Kasozi pulls out instead of waiting to get zeros on the voting day.
The brother who belongs to NRM, has suggested that his brother considers pulling out in favour of his fellow muslim Erias Lukwago before its too late.
Its being proposed that prince Kassim Nakibinge gets time to organize a meeting to ask Lukwago to officially accept Kasozi’s endorsement and they work together to make sure muslims don’t lose that seat which has been theirs since 2011.
This is all coming out at the time Kasozi isn’t campaigning anymore, causing many to wonder if he is still in the race for Kampala lord mayoral race.
Sources add that one big person at parliament has also been pressurising Kasozi not to waste his time on the Kampala lord mayoral seat because he can’t defeat Lukwago.
The big person at parliament has a lot of money and has been putting Kasozi on pressure to go back and stand for Makindye east MP seat and even get funded but he is adamant. Give us feedback on this story through our email: kamwokyatimes@gmail.com
